Grandma's Tips: How to clean your home with Lemons!

Lemon juice is great for getting rid of stains, grease streaks and mold. It is a natural degreaser and bleacher. Lemon juice combined with water then creates a perfect DIY cleanser for your home.
Follow these simple recipes for some great home-cleaning!
Descale a kettle
Cut a lemon into large chunks and place in your kettle. Fill the kettle with water, allow to boil, then leave the lemon and water mixture to act overnight. Discard the fruit and water the next day, and rinse thoroughly before using your kettle.
Cloth mildew remover (do not use on dark or coloured items)
You will need 2 parts salt, 1 part lemon juice. Wash the fabric in warm soapy water, then mix salt and lemon juice, enough to cover the mildewed area. Place the article in full sun for 3 to 6 hours and then rinse. If the stains persist, repeat.
Countertops
Countertop stains can be removed by letting lemon juice to sit on the stain for a few minutes. Scrub the area with baking soda. Don’t leave the lemon juice sitting for too long.
Prevent limescale on faucets
Rub the tap with lemon juice and let sit overnight. Rinse in the morning and enjoy the shininess!
Remove mold stains from grout
Make a paste from lemon juice and a teaspoon of cream of tartar (a natural bleaching agent). Apply to the area with a toothbrush. Once the stain is gone, rinse with water.

Remove rust stains from clothes
Pour lemon juice on the stain, sprinkle with cream of tartar and rub. Let sit until the stain is gone, then wash in the washing machine.

Add 1/2 cup of strained lemon juice during the rinse cycle.
