Lemon juice is great for getting rid of stains, grease streaks or mold. It is a natural degreaser and bleacher. Lemon juice combined with water is then a perfect home made cleanser for your home.

Follow these simple recipes for some great home cleaning!

Descale a kettle

Cut a lemon into large chunks and place in your kettle. Fill the kettle with water, allow to boil, and then leave the lemon and water mixture to stand overnight. Discard the fruit and water the next day and rinse thoroughly before using your kettle.

Cloth mildew remover (do not use on dark or coloured items)

You will need 2 parts salt, 1 part lemon juice. Wash the fabric in warm soapy water, then mix salt and lemon juice, enough to cover the mildewed area. Place the article in full sun for 3 to 6 hours and then rinse it. If the stains persist, repeat.

Countertops

Countertop stains can be removed by allowing lemon juice to sit on the stain for a few minutes. Scrub the area with baking soda. Don’t leave the lemon juice sitting for too long.

Prevent limescale on faucets

Rub the tap with lemon juice and let sit overnight. Rinse in the morning and enjoy the brightness.

Remove mold stains from grout

Make a paste from lemon juice and teaspoon of cream of tartar (a natural bleaching agent) and apply to the area with a toothbrush. Once the stain is gone, rinse with water.
